This is a fantastic evocation of both private and court music-making around the time of Lully. One highlight, in fact, is a court scene in which Gérard Depardieu, opulently bewigged and brocaded and conducting with a large staff in the manner of the day, leads Mr. Savall's Concert des Nations in a sizzling account of Lully's "Marche Pour la Cérémonie des Turcs."
